Sometimes, I try to imagine what my calling might be.   If there's a thing that I've crafted myself into where I could do work that fulfilled me and I enjoyed as a thing itself.

I've determined I would have made an excellent chatelaine.   And sometimes I wonder if there's a position out there that I could find where I could be someone's, multiple someone's den mother.   I like keeping track of things, I like figuring out what people need, I like having a mild sort of power.   

I joke sometimes that I want to run a commune of people I'm in relationships with and their partners.  Because I would be excellent at it.  There would always be food and clean laundry and someone to remind everyone to call their mothers on their birthdays and the bills would be paid and the house would be tidy but cozy and full of happy small animals and everyone's travel plans would be well researched, and favorite tv shows remembered, and if anyone got bored, there'd be a jar with slips of paper next to the door full of adventures to be taken and I'd encourage everyone to be kind to themselves or stern with themselves in equal and appropriate measure, and we'd run foodler trials to determine the absolute best pad thai and the best pizza and I'd remember everyone's preferences.

No, it's not babystuff brain. there's definitely a part of this that might be/have been satisfied by parenting.

i did some research into butler training about a decade and a half ago, and came to the conclusion that i would probably enjoy the work but not actually be good at it, and my impression is that there isn't a huge market for bad butlers :)
