Friday was the six month anniversary of being married to Light. I got a gorgeous bouquet from Nuttleman's at work, full of irises, delphinium, forsythia and all sorts of other flowers I couldn't identify. We splurged on dinner, and Light picked up pizza from Luna and we split a bottle of sparkling cider, packed and headed out to Medford to visit B. Saturday morning was brunch with Chile, then out to Acton so B could get his brand new car inspected, and then back to his condo for awesome Greek take-out and napping, then back up to head down to the Girlyman show at Passim. (if we do end up moving to that end of the state some day, I both want to be a member and volunteer there). The opening act was a woman named Adrienne who played a folk cover of Blister in the Sun. Girlyman was, as per usual, adorable and awesome. I spent a chunk of the concert contemplating the nature of being a fan, and of the act of writing fan letters. I think I might set myself the challenge of writing a handful of fan letters in the month of April. Some will be to real people I don't know, bands or authors, some will be to real people I know, some may be to random strangers or inanimate objects, but I want to think more about the ways in which I like people and things. Home again after the show, in the weird slushy weather that was happening.

The red line makes me crave Mech's company like crazy. Light's no fun at spot-the-rat. I know that Boston was probably only for undergraduate Mech and the rest of his life will be lived in more motorcycle-friendly climes, but for the moment I still think of him there.

Sunday was a late breakfast of cheese pie, then out for a walk down to Porter Square and a chunk of time basking in some lovely bookstore whose name I forget, then home again, and we all played Puzzle Quest, and I convinced Light to play a handful of games on the new backgammon set that Media gave me as a late birthday present. (Harley Davidson branded, no less). There was talk of the apple store, since my successful completion of the knitting class means I'm allowing myself to purchase an Ipod (though I may still bow out), but instead we sat around until it was time to drive to Alewife to leave the car and head back to Passim for the Common Rotation show. The show was awesome, the opening act was one of those men who just sort of exude sweetheartness (talking about his five month old boy only cemented that). The headliner was awkward, but enjoyable, since watching the lead singer perform was a little bit like watching a speeded up film of someone's medication wearing off.

I'm going to the service Friday. I'm not sure it's for all the right reasons, but I think I will regret not-going more than I regret going.

My birdfeeder is frequented by purple finches. They make me make squealy happy noises.

I am so jealous that you got to see Girlyman (will get new album as soon as I get monies) AND Common Rotation. For serious. I'm glad you enjoyed them both!

There's an adorable Margaret Atwood fan-gush-by-another-author on the Powell's blog (http://www.powells.com/blog/?p=1952). Also, you can't beat the title.
