made an amazing dinner last night, carrot and cashew chutney, with rice and apricot-lime chutney and raita with toasted fennel and cumin seeds. the night before was blackbean cakes with a spicy sweetpotato-based sauce, and the night before that was spiced indian sweet potatoes. i still don't have the knack of 'just throwing things together' but i think that might be something i leave to other people, 'cause i love pouring through
and i've decided Reed's Raspberry Ginger Brew is the best shit ever. 17 grams of ginger per bottle, the label tells me. It even warns me of a "Strong Ginger Bite." It doesn't get better than that.
had yet another painful, painful discussion with Light, and i wish i panicked less and retained more in these moments, 'cause in the end, all i can remember when we do this is moments and feelings, and for someone so focused on words, that leaves me a little adrift. and i keep promising myself i'll build up calluses to these sorts of things, but if they're growing, it's damn slow, and my first answer to any question i ask myself about things i don't get is still going to be 'because you're not worth it, because you don't deserve it' and even if i try to shout those voices down, or drown them in chopping onions and watching tivoed episodes of Queer Eye, they've had decades to grow, and they can be both loud and insiduous in turns. so i stuff them in the cupboard and slam the door, and it works for a while and then it stops working.
there's a plumber dude downstairs fixing our washer, and he's talking to the cats and it's absolutely hysterical. i'm still happily buzzed from a really, really nice weekend, and puzzle pirates still hasn't lost any of its charm.
you should all totally come over and eat my food. i'm getting pretty good at this cooking thing. and i want to show off my funnycolored walls.
