much of the goodness with falconridge. many performers that it was very good to see, much of a sort of generically friendly atmosphere, adorable vendors. i walked away with a couple glass medallions, some nag champa, a falconridge tanktop and a bunch of cds. light ended up with a tapestry, a happy celtic-y tshirts, a bunch of info on renewable energy sources and the knowledge that we could actually opt to be using windpower when we pay our electrical bills, which almost makes the ludicrous cost of electrical heat okay. the food was good, the best icedchai i've ever had, a bizarre burrito of blackbeans, sweetpotatoes and a sort of salsa.

we stayed at a raptrap motel in Great Barrington, with a shower the size of a postage stamp and towels made out of some weird plastic/sandpaper/cloth hybrid. but it was a dry place to retreat to during the monsoon of Friday, and it was out of the sun and airconditioned.

i still felt kind of out of place, like i was pretending to be something i wasn't quite, and light and i got into a discussion that i found deeply hysterical about where we would find "our people." to type it sounds exclusionary or snobby, or something like that, but it was more a game, to try and figure out what would appeal to all of our various sensibilities. suggestions included a con about webcomics, with a performance by Dar, powered by solar energy. a d20 campaign about librarians trying to overthrow Bush, followed by an organic meal.

a similar sensation ended up with me trying to convince Light that he looked like a folk narc.

really, it probably just stems from the fact that i have the social skill set of your average sheet of plywood.

highlights for me were the obvious EFO, Erin McKeown and Richard Shindell. like the rabid fangirl I am, I even got a cd signed by the EFO. (one of their ones from the early nineties, since I've got everything else.) Girlyman endeared themselves to me to no end with the Sunday morning Gospel set, and light got their CD. the new title for my friends page was uttered by one of the performers, though I'm not sure which one. Erin tried to get the entire hill to harmonize on Born to Hum, and i think she failed, but the attempt was adorable. Shindell sang Happy Now, which rocked my world, but i failed to get a copy of his new cd. (which won't be available until 8/24ish) (and on that tragic note, the new EFO CD won't be out until October. but maybe it'll have Alone on it, and that'll make the wait worth it)

the views were wonderful, the eyecandy plentiful, and neither light not i emerged too, too burnt. there was a great deal of fun to be had in performer spotting, the most notable being seeing Katryna and Amelia on what felt like an every-hour-or-so basis.

ran into Social and a coworker, briefly and had one of those terribly awkward conversations. ran into a friend of light's, who i used to be convinced doesn't like me, but i think that might just be more paranoia about the woman formerly known as STBF. (now she'll be FSTBF for formerly soon to be former, with the wife implied) I have now typed the word 'former' often enough that it no longer has any sort of meaning attached. we also ran into a woman I knew from college, and i met another individual with greek tattooed upon his or herself, this making three people i've seen.

i've repeat it in a heart beat, though definitely am planning on turning all the persuasive power i possess upon Junkyard to bring him along.
