A compression bra continues to be about as much fun as you would imagine. Unless you've got a constriction fetish, and then you'd be imagining a hell of a lot more fun than I'm having.

We had siblingmas today, which was actually a lot of fun. We brought lyndell pastries, and fruit for me, and there was french toast and fancy chocolate waffles, and presents under the tree, and just the three siblings and their three SOs. I got neat teeny cat-themed plates (a little bigger than the top of a mug, and I have no idea what functionality they might have), pretty chopsticks and an iron tea kettle. And I got to talk about books, and free wheel my way through trains of tenuous connections between authors.

I did that once at a work party, not really realizing that it wouldn't be appreciated when I knew all the titles people were trying to summon to mind. And I still recommend books to people at work, but less often now. I think Chile reads empirically better books than I do, but her blog is a little bit like being able to participate in a conversation without embarrassing myself. And on the way down to their house, we listened to Erin McKeown's Fuck the Holidays album.

Home by way of the pandemonium geek craft fair, which wasn't much but I did get a simple syrup to try, and I talked about mulled soda, and the Clover version and just generally geeked out about flavor.

A nap, and then Chile showed up for the yearly excursion. Indian foods, and then the Somerville Illuminations tour, which I can't even begin to describe tonight, other than it is awesome, and Somerville residents put a lot of energy into boisterous holiday decorations. My personal favorite was creepy santa presiding over a creche.

Light and I bought each other computers for the holidays, and opened them early and I'm reteaching myself to type on a regular keyboard and it's awesome. And, this computer can manage my music collection and I can even put CDs into it. (I've been working off a netbook for a handful of months, which is better than no computer, but I basically gave up on anything with pictures, because I'd have to use at least one vertical and one horizontal scroll bar to see all of it.)

I'm trying to convince myself that not all the entries here have to be self-deprecatingly witty or a teeny bit profound. Sometimes, the day and I can just nod at each other as we walk past. Particularly if I'm trying to write it up before the percocet and the ambien really kick in. (quick hint for the home audience: I lost that particular race)
