After Fast Five today, I went to the Somerville Hospital ER. They took xrays of my lungs, and listened to me wheeze and told me it was bronchitis. So now I've got cough syrup with codeine, some antibiotics, and I feel a little better about not going to work or the concerts I had intended to go to.

I didn't go to the ER for about ten years, thinking there was never anything serious enough to not just wait it out. And, well, working for the local community hospital, even in the billing department, gave me serious pause about ever showing up in the ER. Since we've moved here I've been three times. Once for slicing the tip of my finger off, once for spraining my ankle and now once because I was getting a little bit anxious about not being able to breathe. The staff remains insanely pleasant.

I keep turning to Light and telling him "Bronchitis is totally a real thing." He's not challenging me on that, he was the one who encouraged me to go to the ER, but I'm still feeling a little bit like a wimp, a little bit like if I had enough willpower, I wouldn't be sick.

Wikipedia tells me that one of the symptoms of bronchitis can be malaise. However, wikipedia's also telling me that it normally clears up in a couple weeks, so now I think I just should have powered through.

I want to go to Somerville Open Studios, I wanted to go today and tomorrow. I wanted to go to the Bookish Ball with Chile. But, moving around makes me cough, so I might try to do a teeny bit with Purple tomorrow while Light plays Civilization. Or I might just recline on my fainting couch.

Dammit. I still don't have a fainting couch.

I think I shall roam the house aimlessly and make Light and Moppet nervous.
