first, i've calmed down a good deal. still feel weird and a little edgy, but that may just because we're watching Lost. but it's been a good couple days. Cleaning, and Rome with Lilo, and pretty star tea light holders from Pier One and massaman curry and yummy Harney's holiday tea from B&N and then today Chile came to visit, and it was a little bit awkward but mostly it was just awesome, even though i found when nervous, i use the word fantastic a lot more than i really should. And we got one of the two sets of dishes we ordered (same set, ordered at the same time, from the same place, one arrived at our doorstep today, the other's apparently still in CA) and they're everything we dreamed of and more and Light fixed the drier and i made sweet potato pie and we decided on our thanksgiving menu and it's going to be huge and yummy.

i wish i knew where these sweeping waves of not-okayness came from. i imagine in part it's chemical, but it feels more like that, like something oozing up from the foundations, temporarily less well buried.

and, now because it's been nigh well forever since i posted anything i've read: quick books.

87. The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler. I was pretty sure everyone else in the world had read his but me. )

88. How to Be Good by Nick Hornby. Also a light read )

89. Four Souls by Louise Erdrich. sadly, not what i hoped )

90. The Discovery of Chocolate by James Runcie. this, on the other hand, everything i could have dreamed of and more )

91. An Alphabet for Gourmets by MFK Fisher. The mother of food writing. )

92. Looking for Jake by China Mieville. Short stories, all creepy-like )

93. Red Harvest by Dashiel Hammet. Period piece. )

94. The Will of the Empress by Tamora Pierce. Candy. )
