(books) waitressing
Jan. 22nd, 2005 10:32 amtechnically, i've two books, but i've decided that one of them doesn't count. i'll talk about my potentially unhealthy fascination with anthony bourdain when i finish reading a cook's tour, suffice to say the man shouldn't have let his first novel hit the shelves with his name on it.
(the kitten's banging up against a window trying to catch a bird outside)
#6 waiting: the true confessions of a waitress by Debra Ginsberg. i saw this with a staff pick sticker at Space Crime, so when i stumbled across it in my search for more food writing at Forbes, it lept off the shelf into my arms. and it's a good book, if one likes confessionals. it's been years since i've been anywhere near food service, and i never worked the front side, but pieces of this still rang true.
as true with the rest of the world, it's better when she observes than when she preaches, but in the end, it's an adorable book.
