Wandered off from the monthly recap, stopped keeping track of what I cooked, what I saw, any of those things.  2019 brought me some almost unbearably awesome things, but 2019 also hurt my heart in ways that feel almost unrecoverable from.   There's something about the passage of time as I age that I need to put my finger on, the slip-slide of quick-slow which takes as much as it gives.

Using the same explanation of numbers as I did last year.   I read at least 153 books and it feels like a bit of an accomplishment that I'm now just heartlessly jettisoning books that don't keep my interest, which means percentage wise, I read much better books this year.   Last year, 36% of the books I read scored 5 or under.   This year, 8% of the books I read scored 5 or under.

2 - 3's (barely redeemable, the author is almost certainly never going to show up on my TBR list but something about them made it worth finishing)
6 - 4's (low side of meh, sometimes a good book with a deeply problematic bit)
5 - 5's (solidly middle of the road, wouldn't recommend. I often gave this rating to books that could have been good if the characters were better, or there was more resolution, or if the horror was actually scary)
25 -  6's (now we're getting somewhere more interesting)
24 - 7's (pretty good)
48 - 8's (full of authors that almost never steer me wrong, books so in my wheelhouse that it's like the cover-blub is made out of catnip)
28 - 9's (So good I'll probably try to get you to read it if you stand still long enough)
15 -  10's (I probably didn't sleep or eat while reading these.)

Tomorrow I'll tell you all about the 10s.
