So, my over-ambitious intention is to make Thanksgiving an all-day event at the house, no matter who shows up.

Breakfast would be tea and pumpkin streusel muffins and blueberry muffins.

During the day, I'd have a cheese plate, edamame hummus and fruit (at least grapes and apples and pears) on hand. I really want more cheese-tasting in my life, but it turns out I don't have that kind of party/social life. So I'll probably just throw myself on the mercy of my cheese-boyfriend at Whole Foods and ask for two cheese that go with either the aged gouda or gruyere.

Dinner will include, if all my ambitions are realized.

A salad made with walnuts, a hard cheese, and pomegranate arils, with homemade honey-balsamic dressing.
A tofurkey. (I kept wanting to type that tofurkery, which looks dirty). This year we even got the new 6-person turkey.
Stuffing, with apple cider and chestnuts and whatever the hell else Light puts in it. We're making a non-celery and a celery version.
Caramelized onion gravy (imagine putting thickener into french onion soup, but way better.)
Roasted brussels sprouts, with hazelnuts and pomegranate arils.
Some sort of roll, because lord knows we need more starch. Maybe sweet potato biscuits.
Mashed potatoes, probably with brown butter.
The thing with the canned green beans and cream of mushroom soup and funions.

I'm still dithering on what cranberry sauce to make, and what sweet potato thing to make. On the one hand, I've got a culinary torch, so I could totally do something with melting marshmallows. On the other hand, maybe it's time for a savory sweet potato dish. Or I could just go crazy and make Penzey's sweet potato bread again. But this also exists. http://www.saveur.com/article/Recipes/Sweet-Potato-Casserole-With-Pecan-Crumble

For dessert, Light's buying a couple pies from work, through some sort of charity drive, so the traditional pumpkin. I'm intending to also make something called salted caramel pie. And I think I might try to swing by JP Licks and get some cranberry-blood orange yogurt X. Which means I'm leaving out chocolate, but it's possible sacrifices must be made.

I feel like there should be beverages to top off the evening, so maybe I'll try to make some mint syrup or some other soda-syrup. Or maybe a shrub.
