blow, blow thou winter wind
Jan. 3rd, 2008 10:41 amAs usual, many scattered paragraphs with no cohesive theme.
I am tempted to spend the day huddled in either the bathroom or the unfinished basement, since those are the only very warm, non-drafty parts of my apartment. I am equally tempted to send my in-laws a thank you card that says nothing but "ELECTRIC BLANKET ELECTRIC BLANKET ELECTRIC BLANKET!" Light and I were much enamored of said acquisition last night, returning to a fairly cold house after game.
I had brave and errand-running sorts of plans today, but I think I shall forgo them in favor of my couch (though possibly the grocery store plan may still happen).
I ask two things of you, internet. One, would anyone happen to know of a good supplier (either boston-local or internet-enabled) of Grade B maple syrup? Two, there's a good chance I'm hitting Lush this coming weekend, and am willing to take small orders. Does anyone want for anything?
In other news, I had a huge back-slidey moment at a New Year's Eve party, and due to my lovely and superstitious nature am afraid that 2008 will be a year in which it is more problematic to be sober than previous years have been. However, my first baked goods of 2008 were well received, which I have chosen to interpret as a good sign for the year to come.
Also, I have decided that I want people to take me on dates for my birthday. I don't know exactly how I'm going to ask for this (other than posting my intent to LJ, of course), but as per usual, I want time rather than stuff. Well, maybe time and to be taken to new restaurants. I don't expect 32 to be particularly challenging, though it will be the first unemployed birthday in a long, long time.
I'm trying to convince myself to volunteer to usher a showing of Third, and to sign up for a proofreading class at the CCAE. I think I might manage the second, with a little handholding. I wish I was better at just plunging into things, committing either time or money to things I think I might enjoy, rather than fretting about how I might not enjoy them. Though it is getting easier, enjoying my time with Light more than just about anything else in the world is something less than motivating for trying evening-things.
But now, knitting and a Jason Statham movie.
