this has been a pretty awesome weekend, with a fantastic mix of being social and being lazy, with lots of cooking in between.

I went out with Kumquat Friday night, after another wretched day at work. Good conversation, and bad service and mediocre food at whatever Fresh Pasta is calling itself these days, then some weather-inappropriate Herrels, and home again for more video gaming. Saturday saw us up early, cleaning frantically, grocery shopping and then lounging about and finishing watching Kinsey and some finally cleaning. I started frantically making the onion soup, apple curry soup, croutons and salad for everyone coming over, and then Algonquin and Tulip and two people I don't have nicknames for just yet showed up (J & S for the moment). There was salad, and soup, and conversation about topics ranging from Apocalypse Now to my cats and Liebrary (we had to write first lines to a So Now You're a Girl book, which is very difficult to do in a nonsarcastic manner) and then dessert (J&S brought yummy chocolate bread from the Hungry Ghost) and Guitar Hero and then Shadows over Camelot, which involved calling Lady Guinevere a lot of different names.

Today we played more video games, did laundry, caught up on our Tivo watching, shoveled our cars out, played more psychonauts, watched Transporter 2 (Uwe Boll is doing a movie that involves Jason Statham, Matthew Lillard, Ray Liotta, Ron Perlman and Burt Reynolds. i consider Uwe Boll a blight upon the earth for House of the Dead, but i'm going to have to go see this one) and then made tomato sauce and lasagna. Light's parents called, and they have a new puppy and i want to go to wisconsin Right Now to go see it. Now we're startling the Battlestar Galactica miniseries and lounging on the couch before.

i'm still trying to teach myself to remember on the moments of acceptance i find, rather than the moments of rejection, real or imagined. I keep hoping age will mellow me, and I imagine it has, I just know to see how far I have to come and no way to measure how far I've come. Oh, and I also have awesome cats.
