"You let me be who I want to be"

so, one of the many benefits of visiting the beach is seeing S & D. I'm not going to give them nicknames, just initials. S is my father's younger brother and my godfather and the nicest man in the history of the universe. D is his wife, who probably has some of the best decorating skills in the universe. they've both got hearts the size of montana, are deliberately childless (but currently have one dog and three cats, recently down from five cats, and are contemplating a second dog). Dog's name is Decker, since she's a black lab and S is in construction. (Black'n'Decker, eh?) i've seen S's back on This Old House more than once, and they have, bar none, the best house in the world.

in case my over-use of superlatives didn't tip you off, I adore these people.

and in the fall, they're going to come to visit.
which is a) very, very exciting. D's a gigantic candle fanatic and will adore Yankee Candle, and S is a long-ago graduate of Umass who'd like to rewander the grounds. Way back when, when they dated in the late seventies, they used to go to Steve's in cambridge, so they're both intrigued by news of Herrell's. and they'll love my cats.
however, this means (to me) that my house needs to be finished.
the one good thing about this means that i'll probably get over my aversion to painting. (i very much want the interior of the house painted. i just, for reasons still kind of unknown to me, don't want to paint at all.)

in other news, i very much want to show Lilo and Host Coupling. And i want to try and make pizza on their grill.
I haven't been reading, or cooking or cleaning at all lately and it feels weird, even if i've got very good reasons.
i miss chewing. and hiccups tug my stitches in really not-okay ways.
Light remains the best boyfriend ever (for a lot of different reasons). and he makes me giddy on a fairly regular basis, today being no exception (which is really impressive considering that the fact that it hurts to smile has no ability to dampen my mood.)
