More of the same.

Part the third will probably be some charming pieces of poetry, to get this whole thing out all at once since it's been strangely cathartic to write, and to realize how much time has rubbed the edges off of everything. reminds me that what seems devastating now might just be another story later.

faith is one thing that is hard to deliver )

#32. The Fox Woman by Kij Johnson. a boy who i'll call energy for the moment lent this to me. It's sweet, it's about a kitsune in love with a man, and how she, he and his wife end up dealing with this, and all the resulting magic involved. it's fascinating in terms of japanese court culture, and interesting in terms of how the kitsune thinks about identity. the writing's good, the sex is kind of odd, and it's kind of cutesy. i like Fudoki better, though.

#33. trash sex magic by Jennifer Stevenson. Brilliant and disconcerting. the pace is obstreperous, or some other word like that. rollicking. it's about trailer trash and foxwomen and sex and trees and life and losing things and bulldozers and being alienated and being home. i don't know if i liked it, but it was well written.

#34. the lost pet chronicles by Kat Albrecht with Jana Murphy. tacky, cornball book about a woman who trains her retired cadaver Weimaraner to search for lost cats and dogs. but i read it, and the dog dies at the end, and i teared up, and i enjoyed all the happy reunions.

next batch will be better, i promise.
