since it's become moderately probable if i wait until i'm in the mood to write something lengthy, i'll never post this, i'll post the titles now and one sentence of opinion, and the reviews later (hopefully)
22. Eleanor Rigby by Douglas Coupland. By the gods, go read it, now.
23. So Many Books, So Little Time by Sara Nelson. I could write this book, and it would probably be funnier, though she did give me some titles to put on my reading list. If you want some essays about books and being a reader, go read Fadiman's Ex Libris which is too cute, but also more interesting.
24. Mirror, Mirror by Gregory Maguire. It's no Confessions but I enjoyed it. And my copy's signed by the author (another Raven treasure) and that makes me happy. (it's my second signed-by-the-author book. the first is a Winterson)
